Mercedes Roadblocks

Mercedes has a reputation for making some of the most reliable cars on the market today. But that doesn’t mean that nothing will ever go wrong. We wanted to take a look at some of the top problems that Mercedes owners might face with their vehicles — all problems that Auto Works of Brandon can help with!

  1. Engine wiring. For those living in hot climates — like Florida — the engine wiring harness can be at risk. Heat can cause the insulation to crack, putting the entire engine at risk. This is one of those issues that you’ll want to have someone check on an annual maintenance basis, just to ensure it is all working as intended.
  2. Oil leaks. Any Mercedes built after 1995 has an electronic transmission, and that, in turn, may be prone to graphite buildup from the clutches due to an oil leak. This is another problem that, if caught early, is fairly easy to fix, so you’ll want to bring it in for routine maintenance at least annually.
  3. Air flow sensor. If the mass airflow sensor gets clogged, it can cause problems such as hard starts, engine hesitation or rough idling. Regular cleaning and maintenance will keep this part running at maximum potential, and prevent problems before they can begin.
  4. Spark plugs. Even in a luxury vehicle designed to be driven for hundreds of thousands of miles, the spark plugs will still need to be replaced, ideally every 75,000-90,000 miles. Failing to do so can lead to ignition problems, and if left untreated, can cause damage to the engine.

In general, all of these Mercedes repair issues are items that can be addressed and prevented with regular, routine maintenance and checks. At Auto Works of Brandon, we value your vehicle as much as you do, so we have trained experts who know how to ensure your Mercedes is always running in top condition, no matter its age or mileage. We look forward to serving you!
